It?s time for holiday cheer, and Riverwalk Arts & Entertainment District partners are presenting fun-filled, festive events for the entire family in December!
Bonnet House Museum & Gardens is hosting a fabulous Orchid, Garden and Gourmet Food Festival Dec. 1 and 2 from 9:30 a.m.-4:30 p.m. This is a great opportunity to shop for orchids, exotics, fruit trees, butterfly garden plants, bamboo and much more for the gardener in your life. Also, enjoy gourmet food trucks, beer, wine, mimosas, Bloody Marys and margaritas, garden art, orchid care lectures, Kids? Corner, green market, food demonstrations, orchid displays and silent auction, and orchid supplies. Free parking. $10 members, $12 non-members; $8 additional cost for house admission.
Get away from the hustle and bustle of the holidays with a relaxing night of opera. Florida Grand Opera is presenting La boh?me, one of the world?s best-loved operas, featuring Puccini?s unmatched ability to capture love?s passion, hope and sorrow. It?s playing Dec. 6 at 7:30 p.m. and Dec. 8 at 8 p.m. at the Broward Center for the Performing Arts.
Bring out the whole family for the free Family Holiday Festival presented by AutoNation, benefiting Fort Lauderdale History Center. It?s happening on Dec. 8 from 11 a.m.-4 p.m. in Downtown Fort Lauderdale (SW 2nd Ave in the Historical District). Guests will enjoy an antique car show, arts & crafts, old-fashioned cake walk, historical tours, children?s activities, Santa?s pet parade, wreath-making, holiday shopping, non-stop entertainment and more.
Or, take in a delightful show at the Broward Center for the Performing Arts, such as Miami City Ballet?s The Nutcracker. A magical treat for young and old, this George Balanchine version is complete with beautiful sets, lavish costumes, dazzling special effects and glorious music. Enjoy matinee or evening performances from Dec. 14-16. A special musical adaptation of Ludwig Bemelman?s bestselling book, Madeline?s Christmas tells the story of Madeline?s and her schoolmates? holiday adventure. Madeline?s Christmas is playing Dec. 8 and 9, matinee and evening performances.? Based on the 1992 film of the same name, Sister Act tells the story of aspiring disco diva Deloris Van Cartier. Check it out, Dec. 18-30, matinee and evening performances. A special Club Level offer is also available for these performances. The Historic Stranahan House Museum is decorated in true Victorian holiday style inside and outside during the month of December. Plus, from Dec. 17-Dec. 23, take a relaxing ride down the New River to see the beautiful holiday lights on majestic Fort Lauderdale homes. Departing from Historic Stranahan House Museum, the Holiday River Tours, priced at $25 per person, are perfect for families or groups, and from November through New Year?s available as a private event for your holiday party.
