Although I eat out a lot less than I used to (due to a husband who is a great cook), I do often need to pick up something quick for lunch while I am out running errands. While I do occasionally indulge in real fast food, usually I try to find a somewhat healthier and tastier quick option. Even places like Baja Fresh and Chipotle really aren?t that great for you, though, considering their main dishes often have around 1,000 calories, and lots of fat and carbs.? This can really add up, especially if you indulge in the chips (and, being pregnant, I rarely refuse these days). And although you can make a conscious decision to make the healthiest choice while you are out at any restaurant, it would be nice to have a fast food option that consisted of all healthy options, so you don?t have to worry about making a ?healthy choice.?
Enter Dave and Page Rose with their upcoming restaurant, Farmers Revival Salad Bistro. Dave and Page want to offer a fast food alternative that consists of fresh, local produce made into delicious made-to-order salads. They plan to offer eight signature salads that showcase a variety of different international cuisines, but you can also build your own salad based on personal preferences. Examples include both an Indian-influenced salad with curried quinoa and a Sicilian-influenced salad with olives and capers.
Aside from their gourmet salads, they also plan to offer beer and wine, artisan bread, desserts, and homemade soups.? They are committed to keeping it local, and plan to use Pacific NW ingredients and sources for all of their food. Most exciting for our blog, however, is that they plan to offer a Happy Hour! While we love Happy Hour, at many restaurants it is difficult to find healthy choices among all the fried food and high-calorie alcoholic beverages! Healthy Happy Hour sounds great, and I really look forward to trying it once the restaurant opens.
Although this is Dave?s first solo venture into the restaurant industry, he has insider restaurant knowledge because his family has been in the restaurant business for over 20 years. While they know it is an ambitious goal, Dave and Page decided to use Kickstarter to try to raise money for the restaurant. They have until August 19th to raise $100,000.
